Sam Messenger has consistently experimented with forms of drawing including typewritten works and found materials on paper.
In recent years, however, he has turned his attention to more traditional materials - particularly ink on paper - to produce beautifully crafted pieces that fuse repetition, geometry, and direct observation.
Through painstaking mark-making and elaborately conceived structures, Messenger builds rigorous forms imbued with the organic nature of his medium, his increasingly acclaimed work amply showcasing the very specific discipline of drawing.
